Botox Treatment at Dental Haven

Botox is the common name many people use to refer to treatments that use Botulinum Toxin Type A, a purified protein that temporarily relaxes specific facial muscles. Several FDA-approved products fall into this category, including Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, and similar formulations.

These treatments are commonly used to soften expression lines, reduce teeth grinding (bruxism), relieve jaw tension, and improve facial balance.

At Dental Haven, these treatments are performed by Dr. Matos, who carefully evaluates facial anatomy and muscle activity to create natural-looking results. Because dentists receive extensive training in the muscles of the face and jaw, these treatments can also help address functional concerns such as jaw tension and clenching.

Before treatment, we take time to understand your goals and determine whether Botulinum Toxin therapy is appropriate for you.

Botox Treatment

Botox works by temporarily relaxing targeted muscles that create wrinkles or excessive tension. Small, precise injections allow the surrounding skin to appear smoother and more refreshed.

Treatment Time & Expectations

A Botox appointment is typically completed in 10–20 minutes. Results usually begin to appear within 3–7 days, with full results visible around two weeks after treatment. The effects generally last 3–4 months, though this may vary from patient to patient.

Advantages of Botox Treatment

When Botox is performed appropriately and tailored to the patient, potential benefits may include:

Softening of forehead lines and expression wrinkles Reduction of jaw tension and teeth grinding Improvement of facial balance and symmetry

How Botox Works

Botox works by gently blocking the signals between nerves and muscles. This temporarily relaxes the treated muscles, preventing the repetitive contractions that create wrinkles or tension.

The treatment is carefully placed in specific muscles to achieve a natural-looking result while preserving normal facial expression.

Over time, the body gradually restores muscle activity, which is why Botox treatments are typically repeated every few months.

Consultation

We discuss your goals and evaluate the areas you would like to improve. Dr. Matos reviews your facial anatomy and determines the best treatment plan for natural-looking results.

Treatment

Small, carefully placed injections are administered to targeted facial muscles. The treatment is quick, comfortable, and typically takes only a few minutes.

Relax & Enjoy

Most patients return to normal activities immediately. Results gradually appear over several days as the treated muscles begin to relax.

Treatment Costs.

Long-Term Results.

Botulinum Toxin Type A treatments are typically considered cosmetic procedures and are therefore not usually covered by medical or dental insurance. Treatment is commonly measured by the units used (a measure of potency), which represent the amount of medication used during the procedure. The cost per unit can vary depending on the product used and treatment area, but it is often in the mid-$10 range per unit.
The number of units required varies from patient to patient depending on muscle strength and treatment goals. In general:

Mild treatment: approximately 20–30 unitsModerate to stronger muscle activity: 30–60+ units

Your treatment plan will be determined during your consultation with Dr. Matos to ensure natural-looking results that match your goals.

The effects of Botox treatments typically last about 3–4 months. Many patients choose to return periodically to maintain consistent results.

Maintenance treatments may sometimes require fewer units than the initial visit, as the treated muscles often become more relaxed over time.

Aesthetic Membership Plan.

For patients who wish to maintain Botox treatments consistently throughout the year.

The plan includes:
4 treatment visits per year● 25 units per visit included
This may be sufficient for mild treatment areas or maintenance treatments.
For patients with stronger muscle activity or larger treatment areas, additional units may be recommended. Members of the Aesthetic Plan receive discounted pricing on any additional units needed during their visit.
